"This ballet after a play by John Ford..., a piece about society, incestous love, violence and death was created in common by the composer Thomas Jahn and the choreographer William Forsythe. The result of this co-operation is an extremly modern, ironically intelligent work that goes under the skin but is based on undercooled sensuality. The traditional understanding of music including singing and instrumental playing as well as dancing and scenical action seems to be realized here because not least the choir plays a scenical important role...“
(Hedemarie Strauch in "Musica", 1980)
